Ms. De Silva was caring, thoughtful, creative and ultimately effective in helping our son from kindergarten through fifth grade. Initially he had articulation needs, but his behavior soon required more help — she helped him with all of these needs. Eventually he was diagnosed with ADHD and ASD. Ms. De Silva learned about and applied much of the Social Thinking curriculum, which was effective for him and other students. From Kindergarten to 5th grade, I worked with Ms. DeSilva. She was originally assigned to me to help me with my speech, but once those issues had been dealt with, she continued to aid me in navigating social situations at school. It was very difficult at first, for her and for my family, because we didn’t always know for certain that I had ADHD and autism.
